Ms. Schaubeck was appointed General Counsel of State Bank of Long Island in June 2007. Immediately prior to that, from 2001, Ms. Schaubeck practiced law with the Long Island firm of Ruskin Moscou Faltichek, P.C. where she represented financial institutions and real estate clients. From 1999 to 2001, Ms. Schaubeck served as Associate General Counsel with Haven Bancorp, Inc. in Westbury, NY. Ms. Schaubeck has also been associated with White and Case, LLP and other New York City law firms as well as serving in various capacities with New York Bancorp, Inc., a Queens based savings and loan holding company.
Ms. Schaubeck received her J.D. and MBA from St. John's University and her BBA from Bernard M. Baruch College. She has lectured and published articles on various real estate and mortgage loan related topics.
Ms. Schaubeck is a member of the Legal Advisory Board of the Long Island Alzheimer's Foundation and a member of the Board of Trustees of the Mary Louis Academy, a private girls' high school in Queens, NY.
Thomas M. O'Brien
President and Chief Executive Officer
Thomas M. O'Brien was appointed CEO in April 2007. He was appointed President of the Bank in November 2006. Mr. O'Brien began his banking career in 1977 at North Side Savings Bank. He was appointed CEO in 1984 at age 33. In 1986, he led North Side's initial public offering, among the first savings banks to go public in New York State. Mr. O'Brien joined North Fork Bancorporation as Vice Chairman and a member of the Board of Directors in 1996 in conjunction with North Fork's acquisition of North Side. In 2000, he joined Atlantic Bank of New York as President and CEO and a member of the Board of Directors. Among Mr. O'Brien's current affiliations are Independent Trustee for Prudential Company's $65 billion mutual fund complex, Trustee for Catholic Healthcare System of New York and Catholic Healthcare Foundation, Inc., and Trustee for Niagra University. He has previously served as Chairman of the New York Banking Association, Trustee of Molloy College where he was awarded an Honorary Doctor of Laws, member of the National Advisory Board of Fannie Mae, and Advisory Board member for Neighborhood Housing Services of New York. Mr. O'Brien holds a B.A. from Niagra University, an M.B.A. from Iona College and has completed the Executive School of Banking at Fairfield University.
Executive Vice President and Chief Lending Officer
Frederick Braun has been Executive Vice President since 1997. Mr. Braun was a Senior Vice President from 1991 to 1996. Mr. Braun holds a BS in Finance from Lehigh University.
Currently, Mr. Braun is a Board Member and former Chairman of Brookhaven Memorial Hospital, Board Member and Chairman of Brookhaven Industrial Development Agency and a Board Member of Crime Stoppers. Mr. Braun received Nassau/Suffolk Council's 1996 Theodore Roosevelt Award for dedication and service to the health care industry.
Brian K. Finneran
Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer
Brian Finneran has been an Executive Vice President and CFO since 1997. Mr. Finneran was Senior Vice President and Comptroller from 1990 to 1997. Mr. Finneran holds an MBA from Pace University and a BBA from Bernard M. Baruch College. Mr. Finneran also holds the "Certified Risk Professional" designation from the Bank Administration Institute.
Currently, Mr. Finneran is a member of the American Bankers Association Accounting Committee. He also serves as an Advisory Board member of the Brooklyn Diocese's Futures in Education Foundation. Mr. Finneran is also a member of the Queens Chamber of Commerce, the Financial Managers Society, the Institute of Managment Accountants, the Financial Executives Institute and the National Investor Relations Institute.
